If you're facing a hay and feed shortage this year, you're not alone. Due to this summer's severe drought, hundreds of farmers in the mid-Atlantic states lost crops, hay, livestock money -- and their peace of mind. Family Farm Drought Response, created by a coalition of faith-based disaster response organizations, is providing hay and grain to family farmers in Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia. Hay and grain is being provided at low or no cost, depending upon the farmer's ability to pay. Farmers are eligible if they are raising stock for food chain purposes. Unfortunately, horse farms are not eligible at this time. The Family Farm Drought Response Helpline can also help you find other types of support during these difficult times. You may have a question about what federal and state financial assistance is available. Or you may want to find out who can help your family cope with stress. To request assistance for yourself or a neighbor, please fill out this Help Form or call the toll-free Family Farm Drought Response HelpLine at 888-800-8118.
